It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.

Lesson in Humility

I'd like to apologize to the world at large for my facetious tone regarding J-rock in general and the band l'arc en ciel in particular.

It's never a good thing to make fun of something, kids. Something always comes and bits in the rear in the end. So yeah, I started listening to some of their music and its...hmm, its actually pretty good. In fact, they kinda wrote some of my favorite anime themes. Anyway, long story short, Friday (7/31), 3pm in the afternoon, I found out that l'arc en ciel is getting ready for their first ever US tour after being on hiatus for a year or so. Jap bands touring US, most likely in California I say to self. Here's the venue: 8/1 5PM in Baltimore for the Otakon Anime Convention.

Self: I am currently residing in Maryland DC area for possibly my last summer ever
Self: I am a fan of anime and even *shudders?* the band
Self: Baltimore is within viable Taxi distance from here
Self: It's on a Sat.

Anti-self: I found out too late about the convention and the pre-registration is closed.
Anti-self: It's way too spontaneous for me to pay $50 for taxi and try to buy ticket there
Anti-self: I don't even know where the heck it is in Baltimore.

So, I didn't/couldn't go. But I moped to anyone who will listen for the entire Friday night and part of Sat. The lesson of the day:Never, ever, ever use a tongue in cheek tone, reality has a way to transmogrify that simple innocent tongue into a snake that will bite you really hard in the end. Ehh, that didn't make too much sense.

P.S. Does it creep anyone else out that snakes swallow their prey whole (fur, feather, and teeth) while the prey might conceivably still be alive?
